Individual Therapy

Individual mental health therapy provides a supportive, confidential space to explore concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Through thoughtful conversation and evidence-based approaches, therapy helps clients better understand their emotions, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop practical tools for coping and growth.
Many people find that having a dedicated space focused entirely on their experience brings clarity, relief, and a renewed sense of stability during difficult periods. Therapy can support meaningful change by strengthening emotional resilience, improving relationships, and helping clients navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and self-awareness.

About Me

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
― Carl R. Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy

My Approach
I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, honest, and grounded in genuine human connection. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while also drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT). I aim to create a space where clients feel supported, understood, and gently challenged toward meaningful growth.
I work with teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, trauma, and substance use. Together, we work to better understand patterns, strengthen relationships, and build healthier ways of coping and connecting.
Why I Became a Therapist
My motivation for becoming a therapist grew from a longstanding curiosity about how people think, feel, grow, and connect. Early experiences in my family and community shaped my appreciation for empathy, resilience, meaning, and the uniqueness of each person. Over time, these experiences deepened my desire to support others as they navigate life’s challenges with courage and compassion.
Becoming a father further strengthened the values that guide my work. It taught me the importance of presence, flexibility, honesty, humor, and connection. I see therapy as a collaborative space where acceptance and self-understanding can create the foundation for meaningful change.
My Background
My academic background includes graduate training in philosophy and clinical mental health counseling. Philosophy taught me to think critically, appreciate multiple perspectives, and reflect deeply on meaning, values, and long-term direction. These perspectives align naturally with CBT by helping clients recognize and reframe unhelpful thought patterns while respecting each person’s individuality and lived experience.
Professionally, I have worked across community mental health and educational settings in roles including therapist, case manager, teacher, youth counselor, and substance use counselor. These experiences strengthened my skills in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and collaborative treatment.
Clinical Experience
My professional experience includes work in:
● Community mental health and crisis intervention● Substance use and addiction treatment● Educational settings supporting students from preschool through graduate school● Trauma-informed and collaborative care● Anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions● Feedback-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
What You Can Expect
I strive to offer a therapeutic environment that feels thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded. My goal is for clients to feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable and sustainable.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, struggling in relationships, or simply unsure of what comes next, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain clarity, and move forward with greater confidence and self-understanding.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Mental health therapy always raises many questions from clients. If you still have questions, please contact me and I'd be glad to talk about them.

How is free consultation conducted?

A free consultation is a brief, no-obligation conversation where we talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re hoping to gain from the counseling process. It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether I’m the right fit to support your goals. If it turns out I’m not the best match, I’m happy to help connect you with other resources or referrals. There is no charge for this phone consultation, so feel free to reach out by phone or email to get started.

I have a delicate situation. Do you guarantee privacy?

Your privacy and confidentiality are taken very seriously. Counseling sessions and personal information shared in therapy are confidential and protected under state and federal law, including HIPAA. Information is not shared with anyone without your written permission, except in limited circumstances required by law.

These exceptions include situations involving risk of serious harm to you or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult, or when disclosure is required by a valid court order.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of effective therapy, and my practice is committed to providing a safe, respectful space where you can speak openly and honestly.

How does payment work and what insurance do you accept?

Payment is processed through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that encrypts and protects your financial information. I am an in-network provider through Headway and work with several insurance plans, including Aetna, Select Health of Colorado, Quest Behavioral Health, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado, and Carelon Behavioral Health. Coverage and benefits vary by plan, and I’m happy to help answer general questions about using insurance for therapy.

What should I do if therapy is not effective for me?

I offer an individual approach and monitor your condition regularly. I can adjust the treatment or completely change the scheme if you feel that the therapy is ineffective.
